Description

Polyonum hydropiper: Commonly known as 'laksa plant'

It is an erect herb with rounded stems. Leaves are somple dark green with a sheathing stipule (or ochrea) at the petiole base.

Origin
This species is a native of S. Asia. It grows as a weed in some wet places.

Uses
The plant is strongly peppery in taste and used by the Chinese to flavour 'laksa' and by the Malays as a flavouring in dishes.
