was founded in 1938. Today it is composed of 45 individual organizations involved in plant breeding spread over 31 developed and developing countries, which in turn represent more than 1000 companies world-wide.

was established in 1924. It is a non-profit group of national associations as well as individual seed companies. It represents the mainstream of the world seed trade and serves as an international forum where the general problems of the seed industry are discussed.

was inaugurated on January 28, 1999 at the 6th International Seed Workshop in Merida, Mexico. Its registration as a Charity with its official address in England was accepted in June 2000. Its objects are the advancement of education and research for the public benefit in the scientific study of seeds.

It develops, adopts and publishes standard procedures for sampling and testing seeds and to promote uniform application of these procedures for evaluation of seeds moving in international trade. 

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) - http://www.fao.org 
Was founded in 1945 with a mandate to raise levels of nutrition and standards of living, to improve agricultural productivity, and to better the condition of rural populations. 

Japan Seed Trade Association (JASTA) - http://www.jasta.or.jp/ 
Was established in place of All Japan Seed Traders Union, which had been voluntarily run by founders of JASTA for almost thirty years, and thereafter authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 1973. 

American Seed Research Foundation (ASRF) - http://www.amseed.com/asrf/ 
Is the outgrowth of a meeting held in the winter of 1958 by the Seed Laboratory Committee of the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA). The primary objective of the Foundation is to "Encourage Research Which Explores The Basic Principles Underlying Why Seeds Behave As They Do".
